Go. Just Go!

“But the Lord said to him, ‘Go, for he is an instrument whom I have chosen to bring my name before gentiles and kings and the people of Israel.’”
–Acts 9:15
Dear Church Family,
In this Easter season, the scriptures move us rather quickly from the scene of a small group of fearful, emotionally frazzled disciples to a more expansive vision of good news to be shared with all. Ananias has very real concerns about making any sort of recruitment pitch to Saul, who is, after all, still breathing his threats of murder toward the disciples! And yet, the mission of the Holy Spirit remains undaunted and unapologetic. Go. Just go! I’ll deal with him once you get there. I’ll look over you, too. Just go.
I have never known God to provide a very detailed itinerary for such trips, have you? Not even a waiver to be signed from the start. The illusion of our control is not permitted, which seems to be the very recipe for transformation.
This Sunday, we will come together in worship to celebrate the evidence and faithfulness of God’s call in our lives. Believing that there is one faith, one hope, one Lord, and one baptism, we will gather in one worship service at 10:00 to hear a collection of testimonies within our church body. Among them will be the witness of our Costa Rica Mission team, who will be returning home tomorrow. The initial reports are that they will be coming in physically sore and spiritually strengthened. I am excited to hear more of what they have seen and heard from the Lord in the midst of their labors.
In addition to that service, I am grateful for the efforts of our Missions Committee who will be preparing rib plates for sale as a Missions fundraiser. Have you ordered yours? Plates will be available to go or for enjoyment with others in our Fellowship Hall after the service.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday!
If you’re wondering whether or not to come...just go!
Grace to You,
Darren
