Did You Know?

    Dear Friends of APUMC,

Do you know about the United Methodist Inner City Mission of Mobile?

The United Methodist Inner City Mission was established in 1965 with a vision of serving the Oakdale-Maysville Community in the inner city of Mobile. The Mission is committed to providing a variety of programs to improve the overall quality of life of its residents, such as:

GED classes and other means of leadership training and employee development.

After School and Summer Tutorial Programs at Taylor Park Community Center.

Year round sports programs for children and youth.

Health education initiatives for children and families living in poverty.

A community garden at Taylor Park, which is supported by local churches, the children, youth and adults in our community.

          The Mighty Marching Band program.

In an effort to sustain these vital services, the Inner City Mission of Mobile is hosting their 30th Annual Golf Tournament on October 14 at the Azalea City Golf Course.

Admittedly, it has been several years since APUMC had a team to participate in this fund raising effort. I believe this is our year for a long awaited return!

Who might like to assist me in filling out our team?

Or who else might have an idea for a personal or professional sponsorship in support of this mission? Each team is asked to provide a contribution of $1,200 for entry. Granted, there are any number of creative ways to gather such funds. Infinite possibilities. Any ideas, church?

I’d love to hear from you!

    Darren
