Our 2026 Stewardship Theme: “Reaching Out”

This year’s theme is inspired by Henri Nouwen’s book Reaching Out: Three Movements of the Spiritual Life, which invites us to grow in three ways:

1. From loneliness to solitude
2. From hostility to hospitality
3. From illusion to prayer

Throughout October, Dr. Darren & Rev. Jennifer will explore these themes in Luke 17–18, helping us reimagine what it means to stand together as a community in Christ—with arms outstretched before God—as faithful stewards of grace.

Celebrating What God Has Done...

Where We Are in 2025

Over the past year, our church has experienced renewal and growth:

  • 27

    New Members

  • 7

    Baptisms

  • 11

    Confirmands

  • 6,656

    Worship

Your generosity has made all of this possible.

Thank you for helping us build a vibrant, welcoming, and faith-filled community at Ashland Place UMC.

A Glimpse of Our Future

In worship last Sunday, we witnessed something beautiful—our children leading us in faith. They read scripture, sang songs, played instruments, and even helped serve communion.
One young girl stood in the very spot where she was baptized just months ago.

From the joyful sound of He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands to the steady rhythm of Amazing Grace played on piano by a young acolyte, our children reminded us that God is at work among us—calling us to stretch, reach, and grow together.

Just as the children stood on tiptoe to lead us in prayer, we, too, are invited to reach out in faith.

Looking Ahead

As we look toward 2026, we’re dreaming big.
Our goals include continued ministry expansion and important capital improvements—supported through tithes, offerings, building fund contributions, and legacy gifts.

Every gift, large or small, helps accelerate the movement of the Spirit in our church and community.

Together, we seek.
Together, we reach out.
Together, we find God at work among us.

“When we respond to the mission of our beloved church and decide to uproot every obstacle along the way, the movement of the Spirit is accelerated. Together, we can make all the difference.”

— Dr. Darren M. McClellan, Senior Pastor

God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being
