OUR MISSION AND BELIEFS
- The mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. As one local congregation in a larger body of Methodists, Ashland Place UMC seeks to make disciples of Christ for the transformation of Mobile, AL. Our work here in Mobile is connected to the UMC’s larger work of global transformation.
- We believe in God, Creator of the world, and in Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of creation. We believe in the Holy Spirit, through whom we acknowledge God’s gifts.
- We affirm the natural world as God’s handiwork and dedicate ourselves to its preservation, enhancement, and faithful use by humankind.
- We commit ourselves to the rights of all men, women, children, youth, young adults, the aging, and those with disabilities; to the improvement of the quality of life, and to the rights and dignity of all persons.
- We vow to reach and receive with joy all who will respond; to encourage people in their relationship with God; to provide opportunities for them to seek strengthening and spiritual formation in Jesus Christ; to support them to live lovingly and justly in the power of the Holy Spirit as faithful disciples.
- We believe in the Great Commission; to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the uttermost parts of the earth. Amen.
