Construction News
Ashland Place United Methodist Church
Sunday morning, December 6th our Building Committee, our Trustees, and our Church Staff, look forward to welcoming the members to the Ministry Center. The finishing touches of decorating have been applied this week. We now come to follow-up on our “Building on God’s Word Sunday,” which was held on July 19th. Prayers for our music ministries, staff, counseling room, meeting areas, children’s space, and comfort and hospitality center will be offered
The woodwork and masonry has been completed. The dust has settled, been swept. Everything is in its place. The House of the Lord is ready once more to receive worshipers and, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to ready us for making disciples of Jesus Christ. After enjoying a summer of worship in our Fellowship Hall, we returned to our beloved chapel for worship on Sunday, September 27. Our church family processed into the Sanctuary, where we shared a Service of Reconsecration of our worship space. The staff will be moving in the administrative building in November.
Despite a damp ending to our outdoor ground-breaking service, Sunday opened a new chapter in the faithfulness to our risen Lord’s directive “to be my witnesses.”
Six years ago the congregation directed the Vision Task Force to provide adequate space for
ministry for the growing numbers of young children.
Sunday, April 19th, we took another step in being faithful to God, to being faithful to
the founding Saints of Ashland Place, and being faithful to the vision set forth by our congregation.
Continuing Ashland Place's Journey in Discipleship, we started the important project to construct the buiding with the much-needed adult classrooms, choir space and the administrative office area. The chancel area will also be re-configured to allow more space for the choir and ministers.
The New Building will house:
- Three adult classrooms for classes currently being held in the Sanctuary and Yellow House.
- A Reception Area, which will be part of the office complex and will be used as a gathering place for special occasions such as weddings and funerals.
- The choir rehearsal area for both the adults and the children's choir, as well as, dedicated practice space for the bell choir. This will allow the current choir rehearsal space to be converted into additional space.
- Offices for our ministries, secretary and finance office, as well as meeting and conference space and Library.
- A porte-cochere to drive through and drop off passengers under a canopy. This will be also be a handicap accessible pathway to the Sanctuary.
